| Piercing the Corporate VeilThe corporate veil refers to the legal protection of the corporate form of business. Generally, a corporation, not the shareholders, is responsible for the debts and liabilities of the corporation. In some circumstances, the law disregards the corporate structure and holds the shareholders responsible for the actions of the corporation. This is called piercing the corporate veil.
