Miranda Warnings

Before any questioning by the police, a person must be warned of their "Miranda rights", or any answers they give may be inadmissible in court. The person has a right to know: 1. They may remain silent; 2. Any statement they make may be used against them; 3. They have the right to have an attorney present during questioning; and 4. If they cannot afford their own lawyer, one will be provided for them.
